Happy Valentine’s Day! Whether you have a date or not, dress like you love yourself. This beautiful ball gown-esque skirt was another present from my eternal soulmate the Universe. I first saw this magnificent piece while grabbing cocktails with friends at my favorite SF spot, The Big Four atop Nob Hill. Across the room in my direct line of sight, I saw a vision appear from the backlit entrance of the hotel lobby. I first applauded her because that’s what this look commands, and then got the deets so I could buy it ASAP. I had to have it. However, the price was higher than I bargained for at about $1,000. So months later when I randomly found out it was on sale for a staggering 65% off I snatched it up. I seem to have love stories with a lot of items from this brand.
The short length of my knit turtleneck sweater, leather jacket, and playful lip clutch keep what could be a more formal outfit looking young and fresh. Wearing leather moto jackets or beautiful blazers as capes over gowns in place of wraps was an idea I first got from a Neiman Marcus trend event, straight from the lips of their Fashion Director Ken Downing. Big thanks to Ye-Hui Lu, who invited me to that soiree all those years ago where I first met Mr. Downing. She now runs the big PR machine for the brand in Beverly Hills. Still on the trend pulse that same tip was sent down their runway for the most recent fashion show.
